Joe Frederick- Director
After three years as the the Founder and Director of Navajo Lacrosse, Joe is branching out into other areas and geography's as he looks to take his highly succssful brand of lacrosse more regionally while moving into more modern venues.
With a unique perspective as a Player, Coach, Administrator and most importantly; Parent, Joe has over 100 "years" of experience involved with youth sports; specifically lacrosse. In addition to creating his own unique lacrosse program, he is a former DI player at Towson University, Board Member for the Yorktown Athletic Club, past Commissioner and a true pioneer in his approach to youth athletics. His experience and observations about youth sports are hard to match.
In his roles, he created and developed programs and clinics for thousands of seasonal athletes ranging in age from 5 to 18 and was of the pioneer's of Winter Preparatory Clinics (before they were popular) while establising program and organizational standards for coaching, developmental matriculation, equitable play and code of conduct, all while balancing opportunity with competitive equity. Joe’s foresight, experience and innate ability to “cater to all of the participants” are what make him uniquely qualified in establishing a lacrosse program at Redemption.
When it comes to boys & girls lacrosse, Joe has over 30 years of experience and success with the game as both coach and player. In fact one can say that Joe is intertwined in Yorktown’s lacrosse tradition and history as he was a starting Defenseman on Yorktown High School’s very first New York State Boys Lacrosse Championship Team in 1984. Following his lacrosse career at Yorktown, Joe went on to letter in lacrosse at Towson University.
As a father, Joe has raised two (2) All-Section Athletes at Yorktown High School. His son earned All-Section Honors in Baseball in 2010 while his daughter earned All-Section Honors in 2011 and 2012 in Girls Lacrosse. She is now a former starting Goalie for the Nationally Ranked Ohio State Buckeyes Woman’s Lacrosse team and Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at Coastal Carolina.
Joe’s passion and commitment to lacrosse continues till today. He has forever coached in-house recreational lacrosse teams as well as local elite Travel Teams. In the summer of 2015, Joe helped coach the Girls Hudson Valley Empire Cup Team to a Bronze Medal Victory, In the spirit of local lacrosse, he continues to “give something back” to the community by volunteering to coach the Yorktown Athletic Club Girls Travel Team.
It is Joe’s vision of a better lacrosse program that forms the basis for Redemption Lacrosse. For the reasons provided on the program’s philosophy page, Joe desires to build a lacrosse center that provides the opportunity and direction to develop a fundamentally sound competitive lacrosse player while installing the love of the game that has been his life passion.
